Risk assessment tools and techniques are used across the agency on a variety of programs and projects. Having a general understanding of risk assessment concepts, tools and techniques can help program managers, engineers, and other Safety and Mission Assurance practitioners better communicate with risk assessment analysts.

This new course, “Introduction to Risk Assessment Concepts, Tools, and Techniques,” is led by NASA Reliability and Maintainability Technical Fellow Dr. Fayssal Safie. The course provides learners with an introduction to risk assessment vocabulary, techniques, and available tools.

“The agency needs to have a non-subject matter expert course to tell people what tools we have used over the years in different NASA applications,” said Safie. “It’s for those who don’t necessarily want to be risk assessment experts, but need to communicate and work with experts.”

“Introduction to Risk Assessment Concepts, Tools, and Techniques” also provides reference information on the applicability and usage of the tools and techniques.

This new course is available in SATERN under “Introduction to Risk Assessment Concepts, Tools, and Techniques” or SMA-HQ-WBT-203.
